Why?

We live in an age of polarization. Introduce a topic, any topic, and pretty quickly people will fall into two opposing groups. We live as though finding a tribe were still essential to our survival, and in a way it is. We all need to feel like we belong. But what about those of us who don’t fit into any of the broader categories? What if sticking with “our people” is actually preventing us from connecting with everybody else? And what if that inability to connect is what is driving the cycles of distrust, disrespect, and outright hatred that is plaguing our world?

Christian Witch sounds like an oxymoron, like something that should not exist. Yet, here I am, stubbornly declaring that it is in the spaces between our boxes, between the lines that we have drawn and the categories that we create, along paths that we never imagined ourselves treading, where we can find understanding and respect for those who see the world differently than we do. Dare to stand at the crossroads and ask not, “which way?” but, “what might I learn if I stand here just a bit longer?”
