The autumn equinox, also called the festival of Mabon, was Saturday. A day of perfect balance, poised between darkness and light, abundance and scarcity. The time of looking outward, of being and doing, is coming to a close; the time of looking inward, of reflection and contemplation, is upon us. We are entering the season of endarkenment, the shadow time, the time to sit with our innermost selves. In preparation for this time, I have made myself a boundaries sachet spell. Here is what I used, and why.

Boundaries Spell Sachet

  • Yellow dock—for cleansing, encourages emotional release

  • Basil—for love, trust, abundance, prosperity, courage, discipline, protection, purification, and mental abilities

  • Red pine—for hope and self-compassion

  • Goldenrod—for cleansing, healing of wounds, making whole, clarity of direction

  • Thistle—for powerful protection and boundaries

  • Black locust—for ultimate strength and endurance, resilience, regeneration, protection against the negative influences of others

  • Oak—for protection, strength, purification, prosperity

  • Ironweed—for love and protection

  • Multiflora rose—a formidable natural boundary. Rose symbolizes love, self-love, healing, conciliation, restoration, and heals trouble

  • Brown-eyed susan—for motivation, positive change, and imagination

  • White pine—for peace, strength, resilience

  • Dandelion—for longevity, spiritual and emotional cleansing, intuition, and to enhance psychic abilities

  • Red and white clover—for hex breaking (releasing another’s hold on you), prosperity, purification, protection, comfort, success, and intuition
